Good morning from Memphis and the Memphis in May BBQ Cooking Contest! The Pork Barrel BBQ team arrived yesterday in Memphis after Mango Mike, Heath and Jen Brand drove Pork Barrel One 16 hours from Washington D.C. Brett and Rex Holmes of http://www.savorysights.com, were totally lazy and flew down, and Heath’s parents Rex and Barbara Hall drove down from Jefferson City, Missouri – so the Pork Barrel BBQ competition team is all here!
We are so excited to be here – its our first time at the Memphis in May Barbecue Cooking Contest – and it is GREAT! We are at site S216, and surrounded by World Champions of BBQ on all sides! We’ve been hanging out with Pat from Tower Rock BBQ Team (3 world championships), Wayne from Red Hot Smokers (Grand Champion last year), Tuffy Stone from Cool Smoke and Al from Gwatney BBQ team. We’ll be updating our blog throughout the competition – so please check back often. If you are in Memphis – please stop by!
We are very grateful for our friends, and especially thankful to Bill, Brian and Aaron Fuchs from Wagshals for their sponsorship of the Pork Barrel BBQ team. If you haven’t visited Wagshals before, you are in for a real treat – we have never met folks so passionate and knowledgeable about quality meat – and its a huge honor to be in Memphis at the Memphis in May BBQ Cooking Contest and be competiting with Wagshals products – more on that in future posts – but we hope you’ll stop by Wagshals and thank them for their support!
